Experience the very best of Tanzania in just four days, combining a fly-in Serengeti safari with the iconic Ngorongoro Crater for maximum wildlife viewing and minimal travel time.

Not every traveller has the time for a week-long safari, but with carefully planned flights and expert logistics, four days is enough to experience two of Tanzania's most iconic wildlife destinations without compromising the quality of the experience. This itinerary has been designed to maximise your time on safari by combining scheduled flights with strategically planned game drives, ensuring you spend more time watching wildlife and less time travelling.

Your adventure begins with a scheduled flight from Arusha, Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam to the eastern Serengeti, where your private safari guide will meet you upon arrival. From there, you'll enjoy exceptional game viewing across the Namiri Plains before continuing into the wildlife-rich Central Serengeti (Seronera), one of Africa's most celebrated safari destinations. Together, these two regions offer an outstanding combination of open plains, thriving predator populations and year-round wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, leopards and, depending on the season, the spectacular Great Migration.

You'll spend your first two nights at Tamu Tamu Serengeti, perfectly positioned for exploring both the eastern and central Serengeti. An optional sunrise hot air balloon safari on your second morning offers a truly unforgettable perspective of the endless plains before another full day of expertly guided game drives.

On the third day, enjoy a final game drive as you journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at Embalakai Authentic Camps – Ngorongoro, a comfortable tented camp nestled in the lush highlands. The cooler climate and peaceful surroundings provide the perfect setting to relax before your final safari experience.

Your adventure concludes with a morning descent into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five in a single day. After an unforgettable crater safari, continue to Arusha, where you can conclude your journey or board a scheduled flight to Zanzibar for a relaxing beach extension.

This itinerary is ideal for couples, families and first-time visitors seeking a premium safari experience within a limited timeframe. With private game drives, carefully selected accommodation and the flexibility to start or finish in Arusha, Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam, it offers an effortless introduction to Tanzania's extraordinary wildlife and landscapes.

Day by day

Day1 Zanzibar / Arusha to Serengeti by Air Serengeti National Park

Your safari begins with a scheduled flight from Arusha, Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam (approximately 60–90 minutes, depending on departure point) to an airstrip in the eastern Serengeti. Upon arrival, your private safari guide will meet you on the tarmac and begin your adventure with an exciting game drive across the spectacular Namiri Plains, one of Tanzania's best locations for cheetah, lions and other iconic wildlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the African wilderness before continuing your afternoon safari. Later, arrive at Tamu Tamu Serengeti to settle in, enjoy dinner and experience your first unforgettable sunset over the Serengeti.

Day2 Full Day Central Serengeti Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the legendary Central Serengeti (Seronera Valley), one of Africa's most celebrated wildlife destinations and home to an incredible concentration of animals throughout the year. For an unforgettable start to the day, you may choose to join an optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise, floating silently above the golden plains before enjoying a champagne bush breakfast. Afterward, continue with extensive game drives in search of the Big Five, large lion prides, leopards resting in acacia trees, resident cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and vast herds of plains game. Your expert guide will tailor the day's route to maximize wildlife sightings while sharing fascinating insights into the Serengeti ecosystem. Return to Tamu Tamu Serengeti in the evening for dinner and another relaxing night under the African sky.

Day3 Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting out on a final game drive through the wildlife-rich plains of the Central Serengeti. As you make your way towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, keep your camera ready for more wildlife encounters, with excellent opportunities to spot lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and other plains game along the route. Ascend into the lush Ngorongoro Highlands, where cooler temperatures and breathtaking scenery provide a striking contrast to the Serengeti. Arrive at Embalakai Authentic Camps – Ngorongoro in the late afternoon and settle into your comfortable tented accommodation. Relax around the camp, enjoy a delicious dinner and soak in the peaceful atmosphere as you prepare for tomorrow's unforgettable Ngorongoro Crater safari.

Day4 Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha Arusha

Rise early for breakfast before descending 600 metres into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most remarkable wildlife destinations. Often referred to as the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, the crater is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, offering one of the best opportunities to spot the Big Five in a single day, including the endangered black rhino. Enjoy an unforgettable morning game drive across the crater floor, where lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas and thousands of plains game roam against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery. After a picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool, ascend the crater rim and drive back to Arusha. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to the airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar or dropped off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Tanzania safari.
