1. What this site is
Makutano Journeys is a marketplace. Tanzanian tour operators publish the journeys they run, and travellers browse, compare and send enquiries. Makutano is operated from Arusha and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
2. The part that matters most
We are not the tour operator. Every journey on this site is sold and run by the company that published it. Your contract for the trip is with that company, not with Makutano. They set the price, decide what is included, take your payment, and are responsible for delivering the trip and for your safety on it.
We do not take payment for trips on this site, and we hold no money on your behalf. There is no escrow here — anything you pay, you pay to the operator under whatever terms they give you.
3. What we do
- Publish the listings operators create, and make them searchable and comparable.
- Pass your enquiry to the operator you chose.
- Require an operator to have an account before anything of theirs appears here, and review a listing before it is published.
- Remove listings we find to be inaccurate or misleading.
4. What we do not promise
Prices, availability, itineraries and inclusions come from the operator. We check listings for obvious problems before publishing, but we do not inspect vehicles, verify licences on your behalf, or independently confirm every claim in a description. Confirm the details that matter to you with the operator before you pay anything.
We do not guarantee that a journey shown here is available on your dates, or that the price shown is the price you will be quoted after your requirements are known.
5. Using the site
- Send genuine enquiries. Do not use the enquiry form for spam, abuse or advertising.
- Do not scrape, copy or republish listings, photographs or operator details.
- Photographs and descriptions belong to the operators who supplied them, or to their licensors.
6. Reviews
Reviews can only be written by someone we invited after a booking, through a single-use link. We do not write reviews, and we do not let an operator write or edit one. We will remove a review that is abusive or that identifies someone.
7. If something goes wrong
If a journey is not what the listing described, tell the operator first — they are the ones who can put it right. Tell us as well, at pastory@makutano.co.tz. We cannot refund you, because we never held your money, but a listing that misled you is our problem and we will act on it.
8. Liability
Makutano's responsibility is limited to running this marketplace honestly: showing what operators published, passing your enquiry on, and acting when a listing turns out to be wrong. We are not liable for the trip itself, which is the operator's to deliver. Nothing here limits any right you have under Tanzanian law that cannot be limited by agreement.
9. Operators
If you list here, your account is governed by the Makutano Connect terms you accepted at signup, and you are responsible for the accuracy of everything you publish.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
11. Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
